Sports Roundup: St. Paul girls soccer blows out Lyman Memorial behind big performance from Davis

BRISTOL - The St. Paul girls soccer team advanced into the quarterfinal round of the Class S state tournament with a 7-1 victory over Lyman Memorial at home on Thursday afternoon.

Kendall Davis scored six goals for the No. 4-seed Falcons, while Catherine Ciampi added the other. No. 20 Lyman Memorial’s lone goal came on a penalty kick by Madison Murphy.

Addison Davis had two assists for St. Paul (11-3-3), while Isabella Griffin had one. Falcons netminder Nina Zwolinski made five saves, while Amanda Sears stopped 18 shots for Lyman Memorial (7-10-1).

St. Paul will host No. 12 East Granby (12-6-0) in the quarterfinal round on Saturday at 2 p.m.

Joel Barlow 1, Bristol Eastern 0 (OT): Caitlin Collins scored for the Falcons in the 89th minute off a pass from Amelia Blackwell as the Lancers were defeated at home in the second round of the Class L state tournament.

Karly Martin made two saves for No. 23 Bristol Eastern (8-8-2), while Emma Angell made five saves for No. 26 Joel Barlow (8-6-3).


Killingly 3, Bristol Eastern 2: The Lancers put up a battle against the No. 2 seed in Class L, twice coming back to tie the match, but were finally eliminated on the road, 9-25, 25-12, 22-25, 25-18, 15-11.

For No. 18 Bristol Eastern (15-9), Gabriella Nozzolillo had 12 kills, Sienna White had six kills, Olivia Beaudoin had eight kills and Aliana Rivoira had 39 assists and 12 digs.

Killingly improves to 19-1.
