BRISTOL - The 2020 season series between the Bristol Eastern and Bristol Central girls soccer teams goes to the Lancers.

Ciara Collins scored in the 56th minute and Grace D’Amato record 13 saves as Bristol Eastern prevailed 1-0 over the Rams Wednesday. The two teams tied during their first meeting of the season on Oct. 3.

Collins’ goal came off a free kick from 35 yards out and proved to ultimately be the deciding factor on what was a sloppy Bristol Eastern field due to rain from the previous day.

As tough as it was for either team to score, the Lancers’ defense - led by Kate Kozikowski, Audra Porowski, Cecelia Gilbert, Maura Cyr and Mikayla Gonzalez - was able to keep Bristol Central at bay. The Rams (3-5-2) had a chance to equalize the match on a corner kick, but Emily Nelson was able to head the ball away to preserve the one-goal lead for Bristol Eastern (5-4-1).

And while Collins’ goal proved to be the deciding factor in the match, the difference maker according to Bristol Eastern head coach Scott Redman was D’Amato, who turned away all 13 of the Rams’ shots on net. Madison Corcoran made 11 saves for Bristol Central.
