Local athletes receive Bristol Sports Hall of Fame scholarships

BRISTOL – The Bristol Sports Hall of Fame has its recipients for its $1,500 scholarship winners, with six local athletes being recognized.

From Bristol Central, Jithu Sajeevan received the Leary Family Scholarship after playing for the school’s boys tennis team. Sajeevan will attend Wesleyan this fall. Jacob Santiago received the Alfred Greenleaf Memorial Scholarship after being an All-State talent for the Rams’ baseball team. He has committed to play at the University of Hartford.

Bristol Eastern’s two scholarship recipients are Rebecca Bender and Emily Mulcunry. Bender, recipient of the Christopher Calnan Memorial Scholarship, was a senior All-Star for the girls volleyball team, and Mulcunry is a former conference champ and four-time all-conference selection as a diver for the Lancers’ girls swim team.

From St. Paul, Walker Sharp was awarded with the Roberts Family Memorial Scholarship. The pitcher will play for Salve Regina University after helping the Falcons reach the Class S semifinals last season. Michael Dolce received the Bristol Sports Hall of Fame Scholarship after an All-State season with the Falcons’ boys golf team. He will compete for Wesleyan next year.
