Duquette, Lozier lead Bristol Eastern baseball to victory

MERIDEN - Bristol Eastern’s Jagger Duquette pitched his second consecutive complete game shutout, while Andrew Lozier drove in the game’s winning run for the second straight game, as the Lancers beat Platt 1-0 on Wednesday.

Duquette allowed three singles, walked one, and struck out seven.

Eastern scored the only run of the game in the top of the fifth, as Jacobi Bouchard led off with a double to left, Devan Jacques sacrificed Bouchard to third and Andrew Lozier followed with an RBI single to right.

Maloney 4, Bristol Central 3 (9 innings): Maloney’s Elliott Good roped a solo home run in the top of the ninth off Gavin Greger, and the Spartans (2-4) held on.

Maloney jumped out to a 2-0 start in the first inning against starter Alec DiLoreto. Maloney added another in the third off Owen Papciak’s RBI double.

Central (3-2) responded with two runs in the sixth as Greger smacked a two-run double. Jake Santiago doubled to score Austin Brown in the seventh, tying the game at 3.

The Rams’ Peyton Clark shut out Maloney in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings.

Watertown 4, St. Paul 3: The Indians (6-1) tallied three runs on Robert Johnston’s bases-clearing double in the fourth off St. Paul starter Ethan Rembish (4 runs, 3 earned, on 3 hits and 5 walks in 4 innings). Sean Crean went 2-for-3 with a double, RBI and run scored for the Falcons (5-2).


Bristol Central 10, Conard 3: Peyton Greger held host Conard to just three hits, while the Rams pounded out a dozen. Gwen Torreso tripled for Central (3-4).

Bristol Eastern 12, Platt 1: Taylor Keegan went 3-for-3 and Erin Girard, Alyssa Hackling and Allison Tellier had two hits apiece.

Girard and Tellier combined for 11 strikeouts on the mound for Eastern (4-0).


St. Paul 15, Wolcott 4: The Falcons (2-2) took down Wolcott (1-6) for their first home win of the season behind a balanced effort led by Greta Panke (3 goals, 2 assists) and two goals apiece from Catherine Ciampi, Carolyn Del Debbio, Ashley Suzio and Emma Cretella.


St. Paul 7, Kennedy 0: Host Kennedy won just four total games on the day as the Falcons cruised.

Ximena Varela-Marin, Carina Fiscella, Nicole Kempes and Alexis Wozdusiewcz won singles matches. The teams of Grace Carabetta and Lydia Feng, Tessa Rogers and Alexis Carabetta, and Violet Rodriguez and Adriana Varela-Marin won in doubles for St. Paul (5-2).


St. Paul 182, South Windsor 220: Natalie Millerick shot a 41 to earn medalist honors for the Falcons, who won their season opener.

Erin Downes shot a 42, and Sami Millerick shot a 47 on the par-31 course.
