Sports Roundup: Bristol Eastern volleyball advances, Bristol Central eliminated in CCC Tournament

BRISTOL - The No. 3-seed Bristol Eastern girls volleyball team swept No. 11 Glastonbury on Tuesday evening, 25-16, 25-21, 25-19, to advance into the semifinal round of the CCC Tournament.

Bristol Eastern (17-2) was led by Zoe Lowe (17 kills, 10 digs), Aliana Rivoira (33 assists, 7 aces, 8 digs), Alex DiMattia (12 digs) and Bella Nozzillilo (5 kills).

The Lancers will face the winner of Tuesday’s match between RHAM and Avon in the semifinals at Avon High School on Thursday.

Conard 3, Bristol Central 1: The Rams were defeated at home in the CCC quarterfinals by the West Hartford school, 23-25, 28-26, 25-19, 25-15.

For Bristol Central (17-4), Emily Ericson had 13 kills and four blocks, Peyton Greger had nine kills and Ashleigh Clark had 26 assists

Conard (17-4) was led by Fely Yigle-Kaljob (21 kills, 7 digs) and Cate DiGiacomo (27 assists, 10 digs).


Shepaug 3, Terryville 2: In what was the the final game for graduating Terryville seniors Isabella Greene, Lindsey Hotchkiss and Jordan Pilbin, Hotchkiss and Zoe Zappone scored goals in a losing effort, while Pilbin and Hotchkiss had assists.

Abigail Gorra scored a pair of goals for Shepaug (5-9-1), as the Kangaroos ended their season with a 4-9-3 record.
