Roundup: Terryville boys cross country places second in Class S championships

BRISTOL - The Terryville boys cross country team placed second in the Class S state championship on Saturday at Wickham Park in Manchester.

Chris DeForest (16:46), CJ Hart (18:00), Colby Brown (18:07), Conor Garrity (18:27), Nick Zappone (18:50), Jacob Collette (19:55) and Nick Fusco (21:11) led the Kangaroos.

The team will be competing in the State Open meet this Friday and will look to replicate its success back racing at Wickham Park.

Terryville’s girls cross country team was led by Katie DeForest, who placed ninth with a time of 20:58. Sarah Evanoski (26:28) and Emily Morgan (28:58) followed DeForest who will be going on to compete in the State Open meet Friday as well.

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

Bristol Eastern 3, Maloney 0: Zoe Lowe (11kills, 9 digs), Aliana Rivoira (10 aces, 4 kills, 28 assists) and Ryley Plourde (5 kills) led the Lancers to their opening round win in the CCC tournament 25-8, 25-8, 25-13.

Bristol Central 3, South Windsor 0: Peyton Greger (7 aces, 8 digs, 8 kills), Ashleigh Clark (22 assists, 2 aces), Amanda Warner (7 aces, 5 digs) and Emily Ericson (7 kills, 2 blocks) all played key parts in the Rams’ 25-23, 25-15, 25-22 win.

Terryville 3, Northwestern 0: Cara Andrews (7 kills, 2 digs, 1 ace, 1 assist), Kristine Gutierrez (8 kills, 2 digs, 1 assist, 1 ace) and Lauren Jacobs (5 kills, 3 digs, 5 blocks, 1 assist) led the Kangaroos to their 25-15, 25-10, 25-13 win.
