Sports Roundup: Bristol Central girls volleyball beats Berlin in straight sets

BRISTOL - The Bristol Central girls volleyball team improved to 10-2 for the season with a straight-sets victory over visiting Berlin on Tuesday night, 25-19, 25-18, 25-21.

Amanda Warner (22 digs), Ashleigh Clark (29 assists, 2 digs) and Emily Ericson (10 kills, 2 blocks) led the way for the Rams, while Berlin fell to 9-5.

Terryville 3, Gilbert 0: The Kangaroos won at home on Tuesday night, 25-7, 25-14, 25-19.

Terryville (4-6) was led by Lauren Jacobs (8 kills, 5 digs, 5 aces, 1 block), Tiffany Pires (6 kills, 1 dig, 4 blocks, 3 assists) and Hailey Marin (4 kills, 1 dig, 3 aces, 28 assists).


Terryville splits: The Kangaroos beat Wamogo 15-50, but fell to Northwestern 26-31 on Tuesday at White Memorial in Litchfield.

Terryville’s Christopher Deforest placed first overall with a time of 17:31, while Colby Brown came in third at 18:17.

Other top finishers for the Kangaroos were Conor Garrity (7th, 18:57), C.J. Hart (8th, 19:00), Nick Zappone (12th, 20:19), Noah McCoy (21st, 22:31), Nick Fusco (22nd, 23:16), Nick Piccirillo (27th, 26:49), Ryan Cook (30th, 27:39), Zach Holt and Jayden Machowski.


Deforest leads way: Fielding less than a full team, the Kangaroos officially fell to both Northwestern and Wamogo on Tuesday by 15-50 scores, but Terryville’s Katie Deforest placed first overall in the race with a time of 23:02 - more than a minute and a half ahead of the next best runner.

Also for the Kangaroos, Sarah Evanoski finished 10th in 28:47 and Emily Morgan was 15th in 30:34.
