Sports Roundup: Bristol Central boys golf overcomes Hills' medalist performance in win over Terryville

BRISTOL - Terryville’s Mike Hills earned medalist honors with a round of 37 at Pequabuck Golf Club, but Bristol Central picked up a pair of victories with a more solid lineup as it beat the Kangaroos 183-200, as well as Platt, 183-244.

For the Rams, Jacob Nelson shot a 43, Adam Ward had a 44 and Preston Akerley and Ryan DiNoia each carded 48s.

GIRLS TENNIS

Wethersfield 5, Bristol Eastern 2: Danielle Barrington picked up a win for the Lancers at No. 3 singles (5-7, 6-3, 6-3) over the Eagles Lilly Gaunt.

The other Bristol Eastern win came at No. 3 doubles. Sophie Johnsky and Sarah Stadnicki defeated Wethersfield’s Caroline Logan and Taylor Simeone, 6-1, 6-2.

SOFTBALL

Northwestern 13, Terryville 2: The Kangaroos gave up 18 hits facing an unbeaten team, leading to the big loss.

Tiffany Pires started for Terryville, earning the loss.

The Kangaroos finish the regular season 8-12.
