Sports Roundup: Bristol Central baseball falls short in loss to Hall

BRISTOL - Stephen Warkoski did everything he could for the Bristol Central baseball team.

Warkoski threw a complete game with 10 strikeouts and just one earned run. The Rams, however, couldn’t pull out the win against Hall in the 4-3 loss.

Evan Bouchard and Alec DiLoreto each had two hits for Bristol Central

With the loss Bristol Central is 1-3 and still waiting the return of star shortstop Noah Plantamuro.

Newington 4, Bristol Eastern 3: The Indians entered the bottom of the seventh down two runs and came back.

The Lancers’ Cory Fradette hit Newington’s Mike Sobolewski to bring in the game winning run after an infield error had tied the game at 3-3. Mac Goulet ripped a double for the Lancers and Jordan Brunetti had a double for the Indians. Bristol Eastern moved to 3-1. Newington is 2-2 following the win.

St. Paul 12, Derby 7 (Wednesday): Julian Thayer led the Falcons offense with a pair of homers. Ryan Greene and David Strager also hit homers for St. Paul. Scott Winters came on in relief to pick up his first varsity win. The Falcons moved to 3-1.


St. Paul 179, Wolcott 237: The Falcons got the season off to a strong start. Dolce and Salius led the way for St. Paul shooting 45 and 43 respectively. Noah Defeo, Sam Mazzarelli and Matt Raymond all had strong scores as well as St. Paul moved to 1-0 on the year.


Bristol Central 122, Berlin 28: David Bowes placed first for Bristol Central in the 100 meter (11.99) and 400 meter (52.75) races. Mark Petrosky finished first in the 1600 meter (4:41) and 3200 meter (10:22). Hunter Peterson placed first in the triple jump (41-0) and the high jump (41-0).Gabe Updegraff finished first in discus (110) and shot put (41-4.25). Jakob Salinas (javelin), Nigel West (200 meter), Jose Ramirez (800 meter) and Elijah Ortiz (300 hurdle) all placed first in their events.
