ROUNDUP: Terryville girls volleyball unable to match top-seed Coventry, falls in Class S tournament

COVENTRY - The No. 9-seed Terryville girls volleyball team proved to be no match for a dominant No. 1-seed Coventry on Friday evening, getting swept in the Class S state tournament quarterfinals, 25-6, 25-5, 25-13.

Terryville finishes its season 13-7 overall.

GIRLS DIVING

DiChello third in Class L: Bristol Eastern’s Zoe DiChello placed third in Thursday night’s Class L state girls diving championships at Middletown High School.

Finishing with a score of 383.00, DiChello placed behind only champion Claire Ross of New Canaan (498.10) and Sienna Breton of Cheshire (399.70). Also for the Lancers, Emily Mulcunry placed 11th with 331.30 points and Rachel Gorneault finished 20th with 292.55 points.

Two divers from Bristol Central competed in Wednesday’s Class M state championships at Bulkeley High School. Meghan Curtis placed 18th with 258.50 points, while Erin Petke placed 27th with 179.25 points.
