Athletes from Bristol Central and St. Paul competed in the New Balance Nationals Outdoor meet this past weekend in Greensboro, N.C.
The top finish was by the Rams’ David Bowes, who placed 16th in the Boys 400 Meter Dash Freshman event with a time of 50.83 seconds.
In the Boys 800 Sprint Medley Emerging Elite event, the Rams’ team of Luis Medina, Sean Fitzgerald, Kaynan Conrod and David Bowes placed 19th in 1:36.32.
“The boys represent Bristol Central and our city with pride,” Bristol Central coach Tamara Stafford-Kirk reported. “I am very proud of their hard work and determination. We would like to thank the great City of Bristol, BCHS and all the many alumni, parents, family members, coaches and our own BC booster club for your support. We couldn’t have done this without you!”
Also representing the city was St. Paul’s Christian Sturm, who placed 23rd in the Boys Hammer Throw Emerging Elite event with a throw of 151 feet, 2 inches. Last Wednesday, he won the Connecticut state boys hammer throw title in CIAC meet at Willow Brook Park with a toss of 158-5.
