BRISTOL - The Older Members of the Boys & Girls Club of Bristol Family Center hope to have the largest cast ever for the 77th Annual OM Show.

The OMs are holding a meeting for interested children, teens and adults to sign up for this year’s show on Jan. 7, 2 p.m., at the Boys & Girls Club of Bristol Family Center, 255 West St.

This year’s show is titled “Wish Upon A Star” and will be Disney themed, said Allen Stone, the show director. Stone is a well-known vocalist who has been a longtime cast member since his childhood.

Disney is “timeless” and has 75 years of history that gives performers a lot to work with, he explained.

“There’s a lot of great (Disney) music, so we thought it would be a great scene. There is a lot of new things and then there’s stuff from their first movies,” he said.

The OMs “are looking for the largest cast ever” for this year’s show, Stone said. At the first show Stone directed in 2011, there were around 100 kids from kindergarten through their teens, and almost 70 adults, he explained.

“We are looking to have a cast like that,” he said, adding that there is no limit to the number of performers allowed.

A choreographer was hired for this year’s show and the OMs are looking for trained studio tap and jazz dancers for a certain number, Stone explained.

“We are doing a huge production number this year,” he said. “It’s really going to require us to have trained studio dancers. There are a lot of dance studios in town, and we want to make sure they are aware we are going to have this large production number.”

People can sign up at the meeting that is open to all and there is an online sign up form for anyone who may not be able to attend, Stone said. People can still sign up after the meeting date and the first rehearsal is slated for Jan. 14, he explained.

The details of this year’s show will be discussed in the meeting, such as numbers people will be in, what will make up this year’s show, and opportunities for solos and specialty numbers, Stone said.

At the end of the meeting all attendees will participate in a “big sing along” that will feature a few songs from this year’s show, he added.

Following the meeting, emails will be sent out to inform people of the numbers they will be in and auditions for solos and specialty numbers will occur during the first rehearsal, he added.

The 77th OM Show is slated for April 20 and 21 at St. Paul Catholic High School and rehearsals are every Sunday at the Boys & Girls Club until April 15, when the rehearsal will be moved to the school.
