Car photos sought for upcoming New Britain contest

NEW BRITAIN - Photographers are needed to submit photos for Gallery 66’s “Car Show Side Show” photography contest.

In a joint effort, the New Britain Downtown District and New Britain Art Coalition organized the contest to recognize and celebrate cars of the past and present.

Those interested must be a resident of New Britain or any of the surrounding towns and are asked to photograph cars within the area.

Photographers must submit five original photos to be considered.

Once winners are determined by staff of Gallery 66, it will be home for the exhibition starting Sept. 23 until Nov. 10. Photographers will be notified by Sept. 15 if selected.

Photos must be framed and or matted by the time of drop off, no later than Sept. 21 at Gallery 66. The Gallery will be responsible for displaying the winner’s work, but photographers are encouraged to price their pieces.

Contest winners will receive $100, $75 and $50 from New Britain’s Downtown District upon completion.

In order to apply, photographers must also include a photo of themselves with the car and only photos that are themed-based should be submitted.

Photos may be representational or abstract and can be in either color or black and white, but must be appropriate for all audiences - no profanity or nudity.

Photographers should also provide an artist’s statement describing the concept of the piece (100 words or less).

The deadline for online submissions is Sept. 13 at 11:59 to .
